How things work in St Mary’s
St Mary’s is a church that believes that each person has a unique contribution they can make to the life, witness and story of the church and our worship of Jesus Christ.
We operate through a Parochial Church Council (PCC) – elected members who meet together regularly to worship, discern and decide key decisions about the church and how it operates. It is supported in that task by a Standing Committee, a subset of the PCC which makes decisions in between PCC meetings or on an urgent basis when waiting for a formal meeting isn’t possible. The members of the Standing Committee are the Incumbent, Churchwardens, Treasurer, Secretary and a small elected number of the PCC, who are appointed annually.
However, the vast majority of the work is undertaken in lay-led teams which we call hubs. Below are the detail of the hubs we run which cover all aspects of our church and worshipping life. We invite people to be a part of a hub as a working member or to be a prayer partner – someone who doesn’t attend meetings, but who holds the work of the hub in prayer both individually and with others.
We hope that all members of St Mary’s can be part of a hub in some way – either as an active member but especially as a prayer partner.
Which hub do you feel you could pray for regularly? What particular talent, skill or area of expertise can you offer to God that will bless this community?
If you want to discuss this further, please arrange to see Revd Paul or Revd Jemima who will be delighted to chat this through with you.
