A SERVICE OF REMEMBERING
If you would like the name of a loved one you have lost to be read out at the All Souls Service, please inform the church office in advance of the All Souls Service either by telephone 01962 881879 or email admin@worthychurches.org.uk and your request will be passed on.
We are fast approaching the time of year when we pause to remember those we have loved and lost: those who have died in recent months and years, and those who died long ago but are never far from our hearts. As the nights draw in and the darkness lengthens, we can feel the absence of those we miss all the more keenly. Yet it is precisely in the darkness that a single light shines most clearly. We hold on to the light of Christ, which no darkness can overcome, and to the love of Christ, in which our loved ones are held, now and always.
Our All Souls service will be on Sunday November 1st, at 3pm at St Mary’s, Kings Worthy, for St Swithun’s, Headbourne Worthy, St Mary’s, Kings Worthy and St Mary’s Chapel. Everyone is warmly invited, whether or not you have been bereaved recently.
Through music, hymns, words and silence, we will remember and give thanks. We will read aloud the names of those recorded in our burial registers from the past two years (and any names specifically given to us from more than 2 years ago). There will also be a simple act of lighting a candle through which you can remember and name your own loved ones too. Do come, and bring anyone who would value this time. Refreshments will be served after the service and members of the pastoral team will be present to help and support.
ith every blessing, Revd Paul
