Candlelit Peace Vigil for Ukraine 6 March 6pm

3rd March 2022

In light of the terrible conflict in Ukraine, we invite the whole community of Kings Worthy and Headbourne Worthy to join us for a Peace Vigil held in St Mary’s churchyard this Sunday evening, 6pm. We will be lighting candles as we hold the people of Ukraine in our thoughts and prayers.

Some candles will be provided but please bring one if you can, and do invite friends and neighbours.

We hope you will join us.

Donating Items

If you would like to donate much-needed items to help people who have been displaced by the conflict, we have boxes at the back of St Mary’s and would gratefully receive items from the list below:

  • toiletries including soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • bandages and plasters
  • baby food, either jars or sachets
  • nappies and wipes
  • feminine hygiene products
  • non-perishable food items

A Prayer for Ukraine

God of peace and justice,
we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war and peace,
for wisdom, discernment and compassion
to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear,
that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Amen.
