Fundraising towards solar panels on the Chapel roof

The PCC of Kings Worthy has been exploring the potential for solar panels and, if sufficient funding can be raised, plans to install them on the roof of the Chapel Hall on Fraser Road.

St Mary’s has secured up to £10,000 in match funding from the Church of England if we can raise £10,000 ourselves towards the cost of installing the solar panels.

Solar panels would:

  • Reduce the church’s carbon emissions
  • Produce power to help run the Chapel Hall
  • Produce surplus electricity that can be sold back to the grid – producing a small income for the church
  • Be a strong visible sign of our commitment to improve our environmental performance

The total project cost is estimated as approximately £20,000, depending on final details of the design.

As part of the Church of England’s Give to Go Green initiative, we are welcoming any donations towards this project, which must be made online by 27th September 2025 as part of the match funding rules.

More information on the proposals, including how to donate has been emailed to church members, and is available here.
