Breakfast Church at St Mary's Church

St Mary's Church   (Get Directions)

We have an exciting breakfast and service to anticipate and share in, this coming Sunday, 24th October.  Our TV news, newspapers and social media are filled with climate issues especially as the Global COP26 meeting approaches and so our Breakfast Church Sunday this month will have that as its focus as well as some lovely practical tasks to enjoy.

Join us at 9.15am in the Audsley Room as we have a shared breakfast together.  Please come and enjoy a simple, generous breakfast together.

At 9.55am we'll gather in the church for Breakfast Church where we will have a song, a climate change quiz and watch a short video talk on what the Bible says about climate issues, the created world and our responsibility.

We'll then don our coats, wellies, hats and gloves as we will go outside to plant a tree, plant some spring bulbs and flowers around the churchyard.  For those who don't want to go outside you'll have the opportunity to pot up some daffodil bulbs inside the church to take home with you.

Please wear something suitable (maybe not your best clothes) and if you can bring a small spade, trowel, dibber or something to make a hole to plant a bulb, please do so.  There will be plenty of bulbs to plant as Hilliers have donated a large sack of daffodil bulbs to help us with our service.

After we've done our planting, we head indoors to sing and worship for a short while as we share bread and wine using the simple liturgy we enjoyed last time.

It's going to be great - so make it a priority to come along and invite your friends especially if they are interested in and concerned about climate change and our responsibility to care for God's world.   To be clear - we're not doing churchyard work - we are planting garden bulbs and flowers and a liquidambar tree, so it won't be strenuous or demanding for anyone.

I'm looking forward to seeing you at breakfast and for our special climate service.

We would like you to continue to book in for the time being, as it will help us manage the service if we have a rough idea of who is likely to attend. Your help by doing this would be appreciated. However, we will not turn anyone away who comes to worship – everyone will be welcomed and included!

Let us know if you will be coming using the following ways -
